Biography/Filmography
Aude Cuenod is a French-American filmmaker of French, Armenian, and Syrian descent. She was born in Paris, France and moved to the United States with her mother and sister when she was 10 years old. She holds a BA in Film Studies from Wesleyan University where she graduated with High Honors in 2009 and earned Best Film for her thesis short. Aude is committed to mastering the art of filmmaking and acquiring a deep understanding of every step of the process. Aude started as a camera PA on Beasts of the Southern Wild and quickly grew into a director role on commercials and her own short films. In 2014, Aude was one of 10 international filmmakers selected for the Cine Qua Non Screenwriting Lab.
For the last seven years, she has directed commercials for major brands such as L’Oréal, Verizon, Mastercard, and T-Mobile, directing celebrities such as Aasif Mandvi, Marcello Hernandez, and Luis Guzmán.
Her short films have screened at festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs Shortfest, TIFF Kids and the San Francisco International Film Festival. Her latest short, Scrap Dolls, won five awards and screened at over 40 festivals globally. It has also been featured in educational programs, including the Rotterdam Film Festival Educational Program and U.S. school curricula, to teach children how creativity can help heal grief and foster connection.
Aude currently lives in Seattle with her husband and their dog, Nico. She has a passion for learning and enjoys traveling across the country to direct commercials, where she can explore new places and meet new people.
